Lubowa Karting, one of Uganda’s premier motorsport venues, is revving up for an adrenaline-packed tournament like no other. On June 1, 2025, all roads will lead to the heart of Lubowa for IGNITION, a high-octane, morning-only go-kart competition that promises speed, skill, and spectacular entertainment.
Dubbed Uganda’s first of its kind, the IGNITION Go-Karting Tournament will feature three exciting race categories:
- Junior Division (Ages 9–13)
- Men’s Division (Ages 14 and above)
- Ladies’ Division (Open to all ages)
Each racer in their respective category will go through two practice sessions, followed by one qualifier and one final showdown, with thrilling cash prizes up for grabs for the top finishers.
“This tournament isn’t just for the pros — it’s for any Ugandan with the need for speed,” said Emil Ampofo, Managing Director at Lubowa Karting. “We designed this track to be fast, safe, and unforgettable. IGNITION will show the nation just how powerful local motorsport can be.”
The tournament is also adding a fun twist to the experience with a Celebrity Race, where some of Uganda’s most popular faces will ditch their designer outfits for helmets and racing suits in a friendly but fierce dash for bragging rights.
To keep the energy high and the vibe youthful, a live DJ will be spinning throughout the morning, ensuring the track isn’t the only thing that’s lit.
Speaking on the collaboration, Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, noted:
“We’re excited to team up with Lubowa Karting for this groundbreaking tournament. Talent Africa is known for producing next-level experiences, and IGNITION will be no different — fast, fun, and unforgettable.”
Registration is already open at the Lubowa Karting Centre, and with limited slots available, organizers are encouraging all interested racers to sign up early by visiting the centre or calling 0777 63227419.
As Uganda’s karting scene gains traction, IGNITION 2025 is shaping up to be the flagship event that puts motorsport squarely on the entertainment map. Buckle up — it’s going to be one wild ride.
