Uganda Waragi, in collaboration with Talent Africa Group and other partners, has officially announced The Comedy Grill of Anne Kansiime, a bold and refreshing comedy event set for May 9th at Sheraton Gardens, Kampala.
In true Uganda Waragi Lemon & Ginger fashion, this one-of-a-kind show will put Africa’s Queen of Comedy, Anne Kansiime, in the hot seat—literally. The format? A classic comedy roast, done the Ugandan way, with top local entertainers taking turns to grill her with wit, charm, and a whole lot of humour.
“Uganda Waragi is all about bold celebration,” said Hillary Baguma, Brand Manager for Mainstream Spirits at Uganda Breweries. “And what better way to bring that spirit to life than by supporting authentic talent like Kansiime and Kampala’s growing comedy scene.”
The Comedy Grill promises to be a night like no other, featuring a star-studded lineup of ‘Grill Chefs’—from comedians like Salvador, Madrat & Chiko, and Daniel Omara, to public figures like Dr. Miria Matembe, Gaetano Kagwa, Prim Asiimwe, Sheila Gashumba, GNL Zamba, Nana Kagga, and Sky. The event will be hosted by Tuwangye Richard and Deedan Muyiira.
The official launch came with a surprise twist—a mini roast right on stage, with Kansiime, Omara, and others giving audiences a teaser of what to expect on the big day.
“We’re serving laughter with a twist—Uganda’s comedy scene is about to get hotter,” Kansiime teased.
According to Aly Allibhai, CEO of Talent Africa Group, the event is not only a tribute to Kansiime’s legacy but also “a fresh spin on entertainment designed to leave every guest with a smile.”
