Online dating platforms have evolved and are gradually becoming the new normal when it comes to finding love. The sites and apps have become a place for both serious relationships and hookups as they connect people of all races from all corners of the world.
Users have plenty of sites to make their choices from and it is sometimes hard to stick to one partner. They can however be very dangerous because it’s easy to disguise and pretend especially when building profiles. People choose to represent themselves in the most accurate manner by outlining only their good qualities, enticing hobbies
Tinder, OK Cupid, Afro-introduction, Badoo and Ugandan singles are Some of the popular dating sites which have been embraced by Ugandans and some have successfully found partners and founded healthy relationships by swiping right.
Hassan Lukwago and Lisa 25 met on Tinder and have been dating for five months. Hassan says he met Lisa after a number of unsuccessful encounters.
“Some people hide their intentions while others are an open book. For example, I have met a number of women who never included that they are married on their profiles. These were only interested in sex,” he revealed
Asked if he found in Lisa the exact qualities he had been looking for, he said that he settled for the basic qualities after realizing that it was hard to connect with someone who has all the qualities.
“You can’t get the exact qualities you want but you can at least get the basic qualities. I joined tinder searching for a morally upright Muslim woman who is ready to settle. Lisa is a Christian but she gives me peace of mind and is ready to settle,” he explained.
Dating sites can also be frustrating specially to someone desperate for love
Hellen (not real name) says she joined Ok cupid after reading testimonies on Facebook. She says lack was never on her side as she matched with many racists and a few who were interested in sex.
“I joined after reading two comments on FaceBook about two sisters who got loaded whites on the app. I quit the app after two months of no success. The men would stop communicating as soon as I told them I was a Ugandan while others would directly ask for sex,” she said
