The Tooro Kingdom is gearing up for an extraordinary cultural celebration as it marks 30 years since the coronation of Omukama Oyo Nyimba Kabamba Iguru Rukidi IV, one of the world’s youngest kings. Dubbed “Ekyooto Ha Mpango”, the grand event will unfold from September 10 to 13, 2025, in the scenic hills of Fort Portal, Uganda’s designated tourism city.
Organised in collaboration with Talent Africa Group, the four-day extravaganza promises a vibrant blend of culture, music, fashion, art, and community engagement—all honouring the legacy of a king who took the throne at just three years old and has since become a beacon of youth empowerment, culture, and unity.
Now 33, King Oyo Rukidi IV has steered the Tooro Kingdom into a modern era, while remaining rooted in tradition. His reign has seen the rise of youth-focused initiatives across education, health, and tourism, with the upcoming Empango festival poised to be the Kingdom’s biggest cultural celebration yet.
What to Expect at Ekyooto Ha Mpango:
- Music Festival – From traditional tunes to Afro-fusion beats, Uganda’s top acts will take to the stage alongside local Tooro talent.
- Fashion Gala – A celebration of Ugandan fashion through vibrant, creative designs rooted in culture and modernity.

This year’s celebration is not just a royal milestone—it’s a call for Ugandans and tourists alike to reconnect with heritage, support local talent, and boost cultural tourism.
