Musician Mansor Semanda alias King Saha has declared his mission to challenge the dominance of Nigerian music on Ugandan airwaves, calling on fellow local artists to rise to the occasion and champion homegrown talent.
Speaking during a TikTok Live session with fellow musician A Pass, the Zakayo hit maker passionately emphasized the need for Ugandan music to regain its rightful place in the hearts and playlists of local listeners.
“It’s time for good music like mine to dominate over the Nigerian music that has taken over the Ugandan audience,” Saha said.
Saha expressed confidence in Uganda’s artistic capabilities, citing vocal strength and authentic sound as key assets that local musicians should harness. He challenged the perception that Nigerian music is inherently superior, arguing that Ugandan artists have everything it takes, if only they fully believed in and promoted their own sound.
“We have the voice, the rhythm, the content. Ugandan artists just need to stand up and push harder,” he added.
Despite his strong stance, Saha acknowledged the success of Nigerian musicians and commended their clever use of dance and entertainment strategy to capture global attention.
“Nigerians mastered dances like Musuuza (Eddy Kenzo). The moment you drop a beat, they start dancing. When you find your weakness, you find a way to cover it,” Saha noted.
He highlighted how Nigerian artists have created viral movements out of even simple beats, something he believes Ugandans can emulate with authenticity and creativity.
