Ugandan live music group Abeeka Band has announced its first independently organised concert, marking a significant milestone in the band’s five-year journey.
The concert, titled Roots & Vibes, is scheduled for May 2 at the Ndere Cultural Centre in Kampala and is expected to showcase the group’s growth, musical identity, and rising influence within Uganda’s live entertainment scene.
The announcement was made during a press conference in Kampala attended by members of the band, media representatives, sponsors, and entertainment industry stakeholders.
Known for energetic live sets and polished musicianship, Abeeka Band has built a reputation as one of the country’s respected ensembles, with its members — Pages, Kevin, Michael, Allan, and Dr. Trey — becoming familiar faces on Uganda’s performance circuit.

Speaking during the launch, the band expressed appreciation to sponsors Tusker Malt Lager and The Singleton, saying brand support has helped create opportunities for musicians to grow and connect with wider audiences.
The group described the upcoming concert as more than a personal achievement, saying it also reflects the steady rise of live band culture in Uganda.
Representing Tusker Malt Lager, Sandra Againe said the brand remains committed to supporting authentic talent and live music experiences.
She noted that Abeeka Band represents the professionalism, discipline, and artistry of Uganda’s session musicians, adding that supporting their first independent concert was a proud moment for both the brand and the wider industry.
Talent Africa Group Chief Executive Officer Aly Allibhai said the concert signals the direction Uganda’s entertainment industry is taking, with stronger emphasis on intentional and experience-led live performances.
He added that it was encouraging to see session musicians stepping into the spotlight and building large-scale platforms of their own.
Organizers say the concert will feature fan favourites, fresh interpretations of Ugandan classics, and tributes to legendary musicians who have shaped the band’s sound. Celebrated vocalist Joanita Kawalya is also expected to make a special guest appearance.
Tickets are available through MTN MoMo, with standard entry priced at Shs50,000. Premium table packages are also on sale at Shs1.5 million for four people and Shs3 million for eight people, inclusive of drinks and a platter.
The event is supported by a number of corporate partners including Tusker Malt Lager, The Singleton, MTN MoMo, Aquafina, Capital FM, SafeBoda, Talent Africa Group, NBS TV, and Afro Mobile.
Industry observers say the concert reflects the continued evolution of Uganda’s live music sector, where bands are increasingly building independent brands and audiences are showing growing appetite for richer performance experiences.
